Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for the overall accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the Company’s financial statements and accounting operations. This role leads the accounting function, ensures strong internal controls, and provides oversight of the month-end close process. The Accounting Manager works closely with the Director of Finance to support financial reporting, compliance, and continuous improvement of accounting processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Owns the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting
2. Reviews and approvals of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
3. Ensures all balance sheet accounts are reconciled, supported, and reviewed on a timely basis
4. Oversee tax filing process and serve as a key contact to the external tax partners
5. Administer local insurances
6. Completes accounting areas that are more complex or judgmental in nature, with oversight from the Director of Finance.
7. Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash application processes, ensuring timely resolution of outstanding items
8. Maintains and enhances accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in partnership with the Director of Finance.
9. Coordinates and manages the external audit process, including preparation of audit schedules and responses to auditor inquiries
10. Monitors financial activity to identify unusual trends, variances, or risks and ensures appropriate follow-up
11. Drives process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting
12. Serves as the primary point of contact for accounting-related issues across the organization
Other Duties
Other duties may be assigned. As part of a small and collaborative team environment, employees are expected to support general office operations and administrative needs as required.
Qualifications
· 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience leading or supervising accounting function
· Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
· Experience managing month-end close and financial statement preparation
· Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
· Strong understanding of internal controls and accounting processes
· Ability to work independently and take ownership of accounting functions
· Resolve complex accounting issues
· Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively partner across departments and explain accounting concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
· Demonstrated ability to leverage technology, automation, and emerging tools to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
· Provides coaching, training, and oversight to accounting team members and ensures work is completed accurately and on time.
· Reviews staff work product and supports employee development.
· Experience working with intercompany accounting, cash management, and audit coordination preferred
· CPA or CMA certification preferred
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; and or 7+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Computer Skills
Ability to use the Microsoft® Office suite of programs, Adobe Acrobat, and other office software.

Some operations require the use of personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirators, safety glasses, face shields, and protective clothing and footwear.
